Fresh figs are easy to find right now in local markets.  California Mission, Brown Turkey, Kadota, Calimyrna and other varieties are sweet and juicy and ready to be devoured.

I love figs, eaten in hand, made into a compote or as a sweet addition to a savory dish.  A sweet treat to serve over ice cream or pound cake is Hibiscus Scented Fig Compote, a simple to make dessert sauce.
