I like to eat, and luckily I love to cook. Food is more than a means to survive, it is a sharing of experience, a revelation of new sensations, and a sensual pleasure at its best.
Cooking good food does not have to be difficult, it can be a fun and ultimately satisfying experience. Of course it is really fun and satisfying when someone else does the dishes.
I began my professional culinary training at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, California, where I received an Associate of Occupational Studies degree. The diversity of New York City has also inspired me – I have worked alongside famous Chef Emeril Lagasse and assisted his culinary team on the cooking show Emeril Live, winner of the CableACE Award for “Best Informational Show”. In addition, my experience includes working as a Chef and Catering Manager for a variety of well-known New York cafés and as the Assistant Test Kitchen Director planning specialty menus for Woman’s World Magazine in New York City.
I also worked as a Chef Instructor at the California School of Culinary Arts where I educated culinary students in the art of Le Cordon Bleu method of classical French cooking, kitchen sanitation, and cooking methodology.
I also have extensive food styling and food photo editing experience as well, styling food on the sets of Friends and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Curious about the title of my blog? In many of the professional kitchens I worked in I was THE black girl in chef’s whites, among a lot of white and Latino men in chef’s whites. Makes sense now, doesn’t it?

I love your blog. I have five budding little foodies and a picky eater for a husband at home. Your recipes are fantastic and easy to follow with mouth watering pictures that can inspire even me to whip up something magical. I located your blog today. It is a very nice blog. Your picture reminds me of pictures from the 60′s and 70′s. My beloved Grandmother usually wore an apron when she cooked. Good luck on your cookbook. I have a few southern cookbooks. I believe we have some of the best foods in the world and southern cooking needs to be preserved and eaten. Being from New Orleans I love good food. I think Tom Fitzmorris’s New Orleans Food is another good cookbook. I sometimes listen to Tom’s radio broadcast and the way he describes food it will make your mouth water. I like people who like good food… people like you.
